With up stream gauges spiking and rain in the forcast we rounded up the DC Fluid crew and headed for the New River Dries Put-in Waves. Leaving the DC area after 8pm we made it to Fayettville just before 3 am. After a few hours of sleep at our friend Bill's place we hit up Tudor's for a West Virginia style breakfast. We got to the Dries just after 10 am to find some sweet waves and our friend Stephen Wright surfing them up. Joe Stumpfel, Seth Chapelle, Steve Graybill, and I all suited up and hit the water. The main wave was at a strange level with the water level probably just below 50,000 cfs and quickly rising. The second river right wave was tons of fun though, and only got better throughout the day. After awhile the Wavesport crew, Liguid Logic crew, Huge Experience kids, and a number of other pro paddlers showed up. As the light began to fade we all decided that it was time to call it a day. With sore backs and tight abs the dries once again gave us some amazing bounces, big air, and fun rides. Afer chowing down on some Pizza at Pies & Pints in Fayettville we hit the road for home. Getting home at around 3 am was well worth the amazing adventure that the New River Dries always provides. Enjoy the photos and video, but please forgive the video quality as my camera finally decided to give up after so many long and Faithful days on the river. See you on the river- Bryon Dorr |
