Moose Fest '06

|
(10/13-15)
It's been a while since my last post. This time of year is busy with lots of great river festivals, like Gauley Fest, and tons of good boating to be had. It is also the time of year when business gets done preparing for the Spring. Moose Fest was quite fun this year and again produced my first snowfall of the season. Fluid again sponsored a bar, Malloy's this year, for the Friday night pub crawl. On Saturday night the snow really fell, but luckily the festival is inside the large community building in Old Forge. I think the big snow flakes, that quickly melted the next day, scared off a few people from the fest this year, as attendance wasn't huge. There were however tons of good people hanging out and checking out the boating scene that is Moose Fest. This year was also rare in that the Moose was a bit on the low side. The past few years all the local rivers have ran super high and I've been lucky enough to check out many of the local creeks, never making it down the Bottom Moose.

(Not so "Solo" hucking time at Agers Falls.) This year I ran the Bottom both Saturday and Sunday with a good group of guys. Team Fluid athletes Bobby "The Dogg" Miller and Seth Chapelle were on hand to show everyone just how much fun can be had in the S Solo. Bobby ran just about every hard line that can be run on the Bottom, many of them multiple times each day! There aren't many paddlers that make truly hard class 5 moves look as smooth and easy as "The Dogg." This year it was also good to see so many Solos and H2O paddles on the river. Northeast creekers seem to be catching on to the awesome capabilities of the Fluid Solo.

("The Dogg" styles another one!) Enjoy the pictures and pray for rain. Creek season is upon us! See you on the river (or creek)- Bryon |
