(6/2-4)
(Slackline fun. Photo by Gary Mullins) The Teva Mtn. Games have been a blast. There are so many events to check out and so many amazing athletes to watch and chat with. There is also all kinds of free schwag to pick up along the way from the many sponsors of this event. The past few days have been filled with events such as: Whitewater Big Air, Whitewater Rodeo, Mtn. Bike Trials, Mtn. Bike Trials Racing, Mtn. Bike Big Air, Bouldering, Freestyle Dyno Climbing, Speed Climbing, 8 Ball Whitewater Racing, and much more.
(Jared winning the Big Air Competition)
(Stephen going big for 2nd in the Pro Rodeo.)
(Trials bike practice in Vail village.)
(Speed trials competition.)
(Head to head speed climbing.)
(Extremely difficult bouldering.)
(Freestyle Dyno comp..) The 8 Ball downriver race was my last event of the '06 Teva Mtn. Games and was a blast to compete in. Basically you have a mass start with everyone facing up stream and then you must dodge "8 Ballers" and obstacles in the course. "8 Ballers" are 4 other boaters that try to hold you up and stop you from getting to the finish line first. Ross, Graeme, and myself all competed in this event. Ross and Graeme both got top three in thier first heats to make the semi-finals. I got caught up in traffic in the biggest heat of the day, 8 people, and didn't quite make the cut. Graeme got taken out by some "8 Ballers" in his semi heat while Ross found a clean line and went on to finals. In the Finals Ross had a slow start, but came back at the end with a really strong effort at the bottom of the course to come up with a second place finish.

(Ross sprinting for the finish in the 8 Ball Race.)
(8 Ball Podium: 1st Rush, 2nd Ross, 3rd Brad)
(Ross sporting his 8 Ball Silver Medal.) The Fluid crew is headed off for some quality CO creeking action for a few days before the Golden Community rodeo on Wendsday evening and the Alpenglow demo on Thursday. See you on the river- Bryon |
